PAUL BIANCARDI IS THE NATIONAL RECRUITING DIRECTOR + COLLEGE BASKETBALL ANALYST FOR ESPN.

Paul Biancardi is the ESPN national recruiting director for boy’s high school basketball. He is the lead analyst for the ESPN High School Showcase series across ESPN platforms, and also works as a college basketball analyst , and NBA draft contributor.

Biancardi first joined ESPN in 2006 as a college and high school basketball analyst. He became ESPN’s national recruiting director in 2008. He is voting member of the McDonald’s All American committee , Naismith Board of Selectors and the Gatorade State and National player of the year advisor. He is a featured speaker at many coaching clinics throughout the country along with being a presenter on player development and athletic recruiting. He owns the Paul Biancardi Basketball Camp which focuses on player improvement and team concepts.

 

Prior to joining ESPN, Biancardi was the head coach at Wright State University, where he was named Horizon League Coach of the Year in 2004. He recruited a team that went to the NCAA tournament including 10 year European professional DeShaun Wood who was named the Horizon Player of the Year. He was an assistant coach at St. Louis (2007-08) with Rick Majerus and was part of their resurgence in the Atlantic 10. He spent seven years between Ohio State (2003-1997) and Boston College (1997-90). In 1989-1990he  was on staff at Boston University, as the Terriers went to the NCAA tournament as champions of the North Atlantic Conference Tournament.

 

While coaching the Eagles, the team reached the Elite Eight (1994) and the Big East Championship (1997) and went to five post season appearances. Hoop Scoop Online named him the No.1 assistant coach in the country in 2002 and he helped the Buckeyes win the Big Ten tournament and make four NCAA Tournament appearances, including reaching the 1999 Final Four.

 

Biancardi started his coaching career at his alma mater Salem State University, then went to Stoneham high school as an assist varsity coach and at Suffolk University.

 

He was a walk on at Salem State University in Massachusetts. As a senior he was selected as one of the team captains and received the “James Twohig Award” for outstanding character, sportsmanship and dedication. He played for current New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau. 

Biancardi is originally from East Boston and was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997 at Pope John XXIII High School. His favorite sports team is the Boston Celtics.
